On April 21, 1854, Leonardus van den Bosch (1822) laid the foundation for the current company, Bosch Growers, in Bleiswijk. In the early years, cultivation took place in the open air. The crisis of the 1930s forced many growers – including Van den Bosch – to begin greenhouse cultivation in order to extend the season.

This intensification of cultivation was also a way to ensure that multiple sons could earn a living. In the 1960s, Wim van den Bosch, great-grandson of Leonardus, built the first Venlo greenhouse. Today, his son Jaco (1963) and grandsons Wouter (1991) and Tijmen (1994) are at the helm. In 2002, Jaco switched from growing eggplants to green bell peppers. In 2017, the cultivation of blackberries was added.
